DOG GUILT GAMES

By Wednesday, June 22, 2016 16 Permalink

The Boys are playing their dog guilt games again. They’ve figured out I’m leaving soon. and if they can’t stop me from going, they’ll settle for making me feel guilty about it. #dirtydoodlerules

Dogs are masters when it comes to this.

Their secret weapon?

Those droopy “please don’t leave me” puppy eyes. They can cut a human deep.

I fall victim to it all the time.

On any given day Harley and I resemble a strip of velcro. #inseperable

Now – imagine adding super glue to it.

That’s what life is like for me once I start packing.

For that reason, I learned years ago NOT to bring out my suitcase until the very last minute.

With this trip though, I chose to pack early because –

  • I want to pack smart – trying not to bring an entire ladies boutique with me for just a weekend.
  • I want to have a leisure day before I leave – packing late into the evening the night before is what generally gets me into trouble and I end up paying for extra baggage weight at the airport.
  • I have an early flight – to arrive in Phoenix in the middle of the day meant leaving Charleston at the crack of dawn.
  • Last but most importantly – I wanted the day before my departure free and clear to relax and have fun with the Boys. #canyouspellbeach

DOG GUILT WAR GAMES –

I pulled out the suitcase and took it into the room. I left for a few minutes and when I returned doodle enemy #2 fired the first shot…

As he gazed into the suitcase my heart skipped a beat, I remained strong and continued to fold my clothes. #lumpinthroat

When that surprise ambush didn’t derail my packing plans, they “ramped” it up a bit. Doodle enemy #1’s hit was more explosive to the gut than the first one…

After that I was truly wounded. #calltheredcross

They tried to finish me off with the big guns when they “double-doodle” teamed me…

I was ready to surrender.

I couldn’t take those eyes.

But I wasn’t going down like that. #noway

I found inner strength thinking about ALL pet parents of America. I had to represent. #forthehumans

So I played dirty with dirty.

WHO’S YA MAMA?…

That’s right, I pulled out the ice cream. #byanymeansnecessary

Och, I know those puppy eyes!! They kill me every time!! When Amy brings me her kong toy to fill it up with some liver paste, I try to ignore her (after the 7th time or so). But then she looks at me, with those gorgeous big eyes, wagging tale and I just crack under the pressure!!
Have a lot of fun at BlogPaws.
    Safe travels!!

Now that I know I can be replaced by 2 oz of Breyers Vanilla – I refuse to carry any guilt with me. Thanks, I’m really looking forward to learning a great deal and meeting many people – in person. I wish you were going 🙂

They’re just trying to make sure you get some doodle hair in your luggage!

Girlfriend – the ice cream is the best weapon for any guilt wars. Stock up before you leave!

I know the boys will be fine with Doodle Dad, allowing me to not worry and have a great time. Thanks Forest Poodles.

My mom is lucky, we don’t do the guilt trip thing. She doesn’t leave us very often, and when she does, it means we get to rest which we usually need. Have fun at BlogPaws. We are bummed we won’t get to meet you, but we are not in the frame of mind for such an event right now.

Emma, I totally understand. My heart aches for you, your sisters and your mom. I remember that feeling all too well, and I wish no one had to experience it – ever. Tell your mom, she will be in my thoughts, and we will meet – one day – I promise!

Mine pour on the guilt very thickly! They lie against the door to the garage so we have to move them to leave!

      OMDoodle! That’s hilarious.

  • Callie, Shadow, and Ducky's Mom
    June 22, 2016

I get “the look” every time I leave the house, even if the DogDaddy is staying home. Of course, when Ducky’s at daycare and we have to leave Shadow completely alone, I feel horribly guilty. Those are the times when I almost cry. And I want another Golden Girl to keep Shadow company and snuggle with her. We could never replace Callie even if we wanted to, but, well…..

Have fun at BlogPaws! Maybe next year they can have it here in Greenville and I’d be able to meet you all.

Those eyes could make anyone crumble!! That is precisely why I wait as long as possible before pulling out suitcases, because then the dogs start acting all sad and weird, thinking they’ll be left behind… Breaks my heart too.

Your boys really know how to lay it on thick. Lol!

Have a great time at the conference Cathy!
