SIZES OF THE GOLDENDOODLE #BLOGGING FROM A-Z

Sizes of the Goldendoodle vary…

S

…because they’re really the result of multigenerational breeding and there are no breed standards that Goldendoodle breeders are aiming for.

The Goldendoodle comes in three sizes…

And on average you can somewhat predict their height…

Keep in mind, there’s a range.

LARGE STANDARD –

  • Average height – 20-24 inches
  • Average weight – 50-100lbs

Harley, Leo and Jaxson are all considered “large” Standard Goldendoodles, but they truly represent the entire spectrum in this category.

Here’s Harley (54lbs) at the smaller range next to Leo (98lbs) who rivaled a mini pony…

And Harley next to Jaxson (68lbs), who fits more in the middle of the range…

SMALL STANDARD (MEDIUM) –

  • Average height – 17-20 inches
  • Average weight – 40-50lbs

SMALL (MINI) –

The result of a Miniature or Toy Poodle crossed with a Golden Retriever.

  • Average height – 13-20 inches
  • Average weight – 15-35 lbs

The mini’s are like cuddly teddy bears come to life. Here is an adult “mini” at 20 lbs…

SOME SAY –

A general rule of thumb is to add both the parents weights together and divide by 2 to get an average adult weight.

No matter, they all seemed completely ‘pawfectly’ sized. 🙂

I would hope for a Doodle that is mid range, because this is what I’m used to raising. Our dogs weigh between 60# and 78# – although we’re trying to get that high weight down to #75.

Then a Standard would do you just fine. But remember to look for a breeder who specializes in “large” standards – more like Jaxson and in some cases Leo. If not you’ll have a Harley who never exceeds 54 lbs. I’ve had all three ranges and I’ve loved them all.
