Not until Jaxson did I witness/experience first hand the jumping Goldendoodle phenominum.
I’d heard many stories about it – but Harley nor Leo did it.
Not sure where this trait/habit comes from but it’s pretty popular with this breed.
Jax is that doodle who jumps at whim. There’s no trigger, no prompting – he just jumps!
He will jump to say hello, or see you later. He loves to jump for whatever is in your hand – whether it’s his or yours, treats or toys, sometimes it could be a hat, paper or nothing…
It’s like his inner “rabbit” like behavior comes out. I’m not alone. It’s common Doodle parent talk.
I know what you’re thinking?
Just teach him not to jump!
I was guilty of that same thought – until I met Jaxson. To me, I see it as part of his make-up – who he is. On any given day, he will walk – walk – trot (like a skip) then JUMP!
If I ask him to get down, he will, but shortly there after, sometime later… #jumpingJaxDoodle
WHAT DO I DO? –
I laugh! Because he’s playing and I truly don’t believe he could stop if HE wanted to!
I am curious to see – as he ages if this will subside. I searched the internet but didn’t find many articles.
I’ve seen many photos/videos of Goldendoodles “counter surfing” – haven’t had to deal with that. #thankthedoodle

That looks like a jumping happy Golden Doodle BOL. When Benny was still with us, mom got home from work, opened the door and he looked like he was on a trampoline. 30lbs. Little cinder block jumping straight up on all 4’s and touched moms shoulder. Hilarious

Thanks Deana – I caN honestly say – I’ve never ever met anyone who regretted bringing a Goldendoodle home. Until you find your very own “jumping Jax” you are more than welcome to hang out here and enjoy Harley & Jaxson. Take care and have a great week!

Emma, you and Harley would get a great work-out. He’d hop and you’d chase. Sounds like a great afternoon filled with GBGV Doodle fun!

Goldendoodles are beautiful dogs. We have labs and they’re good jumpers too.

They seem to be four legged pogo sticks. 🙂

HA! Up and down all day long Monika!

In my experiences caring for a few pet sitting, they kind of are “bouncy” like dogs. They’re just so happy and it’s contagious – they make you smile all the time. 🙂

You nailed it with that description Lindsay! That’s exactly what life is like in my house. Especially in the afternoon, hilarious to watch.

Rita can really get some air when she wants to too, which is funny because she’s fairly short. Folks are always amazed to see her boing up into the air. She’s our little Mexican Jumping Bean. (Wow – A-Z challenge! You must be busy! Happy blogging!)

I’m the same way Jackie – I love to see them jump! Yep – this challenge is just that – a challenge! LOL

Callie was my counter surfer, 4-legged pogo stick until her 2nd CCL injury/surgery. Thankfully, the Demonbrat is too short to counter surf successfully; and Shadow decided early on it was easier to let Callie get to the goodies and share them with her.

Jax has the potential to be a counter surfer, but I think we discouraged that early in his life. He will try to sniff (because he’s so tall) but then I use my “voice” and he corrects himself #thankthedoodle No telling what he would try if I was not in the room or not home, therefore I don’t leave food out to temp him #gottadowhatwegottado

He’s just jumping for joy – he’s a happy boy! 🙂

He’s happy even in his sleep 🙂 Love this doodle…
